The journal has been published by the Pančevo City Library since November 2002, semiannually. It has status of scientific journals (M53).
The guidelines below provide the essential information you need to prepare and submit your scientific and professional articles in a form that will enable us to most efficiently process your submission. Please read these guidelines carefully and familiarize yourself with the style and editorial policy of our journal by examining its online version. It is important to check that your research fits well into the thematic and formal structure of the journal before you submit it. You are also advised to indicate the column of the journal your article is intended for (see Layout of the Journal). If you have any queries, please contact us.
The journal accepts the following types of original contributions that have not been published elsewhere:
- Articles on topics mentioned in the Layout of the Journal
- Reviews of new publications and scientific and professional meetings, as well as other news of interest for library and information professionals
Paper categorization
The following categorization is used for papers accepted for publishing and subject to reviewing:
1. Scientific papers
− original scientific paper (with previously unpublished results of authors' own research using scientific methods)
− review paper (that contains an original, detailed and critical review of some research problem or field in which authors' contributions can be demonstrated by self citation)
− preliminary communication of the original scientific work in progress
− scientific discussion and topic review based on scientific arguments
2. Professional papers
− professional paper presents experiences useful for advancement of professional practice
− informative contribution (editorial, commentary, etc.)
− review of a book, software, scientific or professional event, etc.
Works classified as scientific ones must have at least two positive reviews.
The authors should suggest the category of their paper but the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the final categorization.
Contributions should not exceed 12.000 characters (with spaces), provided with footnotes, reference list, title, keywords and abstract.
Author's name: Names and surnames of all authors should be written in the sequence in which they will appear in a published paper. For each author the following data should be provided: academic title, full surname and name, e-mail address and affiliation. Professional position and title are not required, but some basic bio-bibliographic data about the author should be given in the note.
Name of the author's institution (affiliation): Full and official name and address of the institution that employs the author, as well as the name of the institution where the work was carried out, are required for each author. For large organizations full hierarchy of names should be specified, top down.
Abstract: Your abstract should give readers concise information about the content of your article. It should be informative and not only indicate the general scope of the article but also present the goal of the work and applied methods and state the main results obtained and conclusions drawn. When readers are searching for information online, an abstract of an article is likely to be the first thing they see. Consequently your abstract needs to be concise but convey as much information as possible about the content of your article. As the abstract is not part of the text it should be complete in itself. It should be suitable for direct inclusion in abstracting services and should not normally exceed 150 words. An English version of the abstract must also be supplied.
Keywords: Authors should supply at least 3 but not more than 8 keywords separated by commas that designate main concepts presented in the paper. The abstract and keywords should follow
the title and authors' names.
Notes (Footnotes): Footnotes are placed numerically at the foot of the very same page where commented part of the text is placed. They can contain less important details and additional explanations, but they are also used to give credit to sources of any material borrowed, summarized or paraphrased. They are intended to refer readers to the exact pages of the works listed in the Works Cited, References, or Bibliography section, but they can not replace this section.
Previous versions of the paper: If the paper was prior, under the same or similar title, presented orally at a conference but did not appear in published conference proceedings, this should be stated in a separate note.
Contributions intended for the column Window: Reviews of monographic publications should not exceed 6.000 characters, except for scientific reviews whose length is not limited.
Expert - specialists in a particular area, besides a basic summary, can give his own evaluation of a publication on the basis of personal taste, state its main points, decide upon the validity of the author's arguments and evidence and make a judgment on significance of the publication for the development of a certain area.
References: A complete reference list should provide your reader with enough information to locate the article concerned. Referenced material contains bibliographic sources (articles, monographic publications etc.) and should be listed at the end of the text, within the unnumbered section References. It should not be translated into the language of the article. The reference section should be complete, but it should not contain any bibliographic information not referenced in the main text. You should take particular care to ensure that the information is correct so that links to referenced articles can be made successfully. Entries in the reference list should be ordered alphabetically. For composing a reference list use Chicago Style (Humanities). Detailed information on this style with examples are provided on www.citaliste.com and www.chicagomanualofstyle.org.
All papers should be submitted electronically via e-mail to the journal adress goran@biblioteka-pancevo.org.rs. You are required to provide us with important information about your submission and article to allow us to process it correctly. Send the submission information as the main body text of the e-mail.
Paper should be prepared as Microsoft Word Document using Times New Roman font.
Carefully chosen and well-prepared illustrations can greatly enhance your article. Prepare illustrations and photographs that are clear, easy to read and of the best possible quality (we recommend jpg format and 300 dpi resolution for 10 cm of width) and send them in separate files, as attachments. We will normally use illustrations as submitted, therefore it is your responsibility to ensure that they are legible and technically correct. If necessary, include tables and charts, attached as separate files. Your illustrations should be numbered in the order in which they are referred to in the text. Captions that will be placed below tables, illustrations, diagrams or photographs should be included in the text and not in the graphics files.
