Written Material About Simo Matavulj in the Department
of Folk Literature of University Library in Belgrade

The text is dedicated to archival material about Simо Matavulj (1852-1908) which can be found in the Department of Folk Literature of University Library "Svetozar Marković" in Belgrade, a part of the extensive manuscript legacy of Vojislav Jovanović Marambo (1884-1968). This archival material has 692 sheets of manuscripts and it is a testimony that Vojislav Jovanović intended to collect and publish in a book titled Anonymous Matavulj all unsigned, and texts that Simo Matavulj signed with his aliases, published in periodicals from the late 19th and the early 20th century. His intention Jovanović, unfortunately, did not achieve, but the manuscripts preserved in itself, a valuable source for the study of literary language of Simo Matavulj with lexical and semantic aspects, as well as a significant contribution to the biography of the great Serbian realists.
