Ten Years of Library Management Classes at the LIS Department,
Faculty of Philology in Belgrade


Ten years of management classes at the Library and Information Science Department of the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, concludes that students taking these courses have gained the opportunity to understand better the process of library work and acquire necessary knowledge in the field of management, without which it is not possible to achieve professional, high-quality engagement in contemporary organizations.

The article follows the development of this teaching area, from the idea of shaping the subject, through the efforts to provide appropriate literature, and the kind of innovation such as the introduction of blogs as additional teaching resources. The wider social context: the process of socio-economic and political transition, reform of the education system, adjusting to the Bologna process, the process of accreditation, the criteria for evaluating scientific research at the university, low levels of information literacy, presents a slightly indicated but defining framework of this review.
