Library of the French club in Pančevo

Abstract: On September 11, 1921 the French club was established in Pančevo with the purpose of spreading the French culture and language among our people. Right upon its establishing, French club in Pančevo founded its library. As the time was passing, the library reached the number of 700 French books, from French literature and from all areas of French culture. Big contribution to the activities of the club was made by Russian emigrants who lived in Pančevo. Cultural cooperation between Kingdom of Yugoslavia and Republic of France was spreaded also by celebrating aniversaries, important historical dates of both nations, ceremonial academies and commemorations, by organizing "French day". Cultural relations between France and Yugoslavia were renewed after World War II, by establishing The Society of Cultural cooperation Yugoslavia – France.
