The usage of the school library holdings and services in Serbia

Abstract: In the paper is given the analysis of the school library holdings and services` usage, for five years period, from 2004. till 2008. The analysis was performed based on data gathered for the database Library network of Serbia, as well as the reports on supervision of school libraries` professional work. In terms of the number of included libraries, the analysis is giving comprehensive information on the area. In the paper are given statistical data, with tabelar reviews, of the library collectons` usage – books and non-book materials, as well as data of library shows, literary evenings, lectures, panel discussions and other cultural and educational programs, which was organized by school libraries. In the paper is pointed there is necessity for change in school libraries` work and are given recommendations on how their work could be improved.
