Library Education in the Republic of Srpska

Abstract: The paper presents the education of librarians in the Republic of Srpska, as well as in Bosnia and Hercegovina, claryfying their specific characteristics. Despite many difficulties, the tradition of education of librarians is аlmost five decades long. Implementation of the Bologna process in higher education system is accepted in universities in the Republic of Srpska. The four year program of the Department of Comparative Literature and Librarianship, Faculty of Philosophy, entered the new program changes, to improve quality. Accreditation of the program is only expected, as well as the establishing of master program, but we are strong in beliefe that it will contribute substantilly to the new profile of educator, librarian and cultural enterpreneur in the Republic of Srpska.
